Preparation plan
A personalized, multi-week learning path that closes the gap between where you are and your target role.
Know exactly what to learn next — in order, with a finish line.
What it is
The preparation plan is your personalized learning path. Upskiller analyzes your profile, career goals, and the skill gaps from your job matches, then lays out a multi-week plan: phases, goals, concrete tasks with time estimates and resources, and milestones to aim for. Tick tasks off as you go and watch your progress climb.
Availability: Available on all plans. Progress tracking is part of the Starter and Pro plans.
When to use it
When you know your target role but not the path to it — or when a job match keeps surfacing the same gaps. Generate it early in a search and work through it alongside your applications.
How to use it
- Open Preparation plan and click Generate plan. It analyzes your profile and skill gaps — this takes a moment.
- Review what it produces:
- a short summary and an overall progress bar
- Milestones — checkpoints by week
- Phases — click a phase to expand it and see its goals and tasks
- Each task shows a category (learning, project, networking, or certification), a rough time estimate, a description, and resource links.
- Click the circle on a task to mark it complete — your progress updates as you go.
- Click Regenerate anytime to rebuild the plan, for example after your target role or profile changes.
Tips & best practices
- Generate it after a match or two. Real skill gaps from the job matcher make the plan sharper than profile data alone.
- Work one phase at a time. The order is deliberate — earlier phases set up later ones.
- Tick tasks as you finish. Visible progress keeps momentum, and the plan reflects how far you've come.
- Regenerate when your target shifts. A new desired role should mean a new plan — don't grind through a stale one.
Troubleshooting / FAQ
- Nothing happens when I click generate. Plan generation can take up to a minute — wait for the Generating your plan… state to finish.
- The plan feels generic. Complete your profile, run a job match to surface real gaps, then regenerate.
- Will regenerating reset my progress? Yes — regenerating builds a fresh plan and replaces the current one, including completed tasks. Regenerate only when you want to start over.
- Can I have more than one plan? The page shows your latest plan; regenerating replaces it.
