Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy is provided as a starting template tailored to how Upskiller works today. It is not legal advice. Please have it reviewed by qualified legal counsel before you rely on it.
This Cookie Policy explains how Upskiller uses cookies and similar technologies (such as browser local and session storage) when you visit upskiller.tech or use our services. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device. “Similar technologies” include local storage and session storage, which work in a comparable way. They let a site remember your actions and preferences, keep you signed in, and understand how the site is used. Cookies set by the site you are visiting are “first-party”; those set by another domain are “third-party”.
How we use cookies and similar technologies
Strictly necessary (authentication and security)
We use Firebase Authentication to keep you signed in. It stores authentication tokens in your browser’s local storage and IndexedDB, and we use session storage to remember temporary state such as a plan you selected before signing in. These technologies are essential — without them, core features like signing in would not work — and they cannot be switched off through a consent control.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors find and use the Service so we can improve it. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies that collect usage and device information in an aggregated form. We do not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking.
Cookies and storage we use
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics | Distinguishes unique visitors | First-party cookie | Up to 2 years |
| _ga_<id> | Google Analytics | Maintains analytics session state | First-party cookie | Up to 2 years |
| Firebase auth tokens | Google Firebase | Keeps you securely signed in | Local storage / IndexedDB | Until you sign out or clear storage |
| Plan selection | Upskiller | Remembers a plan you chose before signing in | Session storage | Until the browser tab is closed |
Third-party cookies
Some of the technologies above are provided by Google (for authentication and analytics). Google processes the related data under its own terms and privacy policy. To learn more about how Google uses data from sites that use its services, see Google’s privacy resources.
Managing cookies
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings, and you can clear local and session storage there as well. Note that blocking strictly necessary technologies may prevent you from signing in or using parts of the Service. To opt out of Google Analytics across websites, you can install Google’s Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy as our use of cookies and similar technologies changes. When we make material changes, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
